What Defines You?!
Oprah Winfrey has a powerful story that began with abuse, struggle, conflict and numerous failures.
She had been sexually abused as a child, fired from jobs, told she wasn't suited for television and had many personal and professional setbacks...
However, despite all of that, she rose to the top of all of those set backs. She got up, brushed herself off and got back in the game after getting hit by things life threw at her, which she had no control over.
Was it tough?
Yes!
But after you get knocked down, you have the choice to stay down, or to get back up...
Like a phoenix, Oprah continued to raise up from the flames that life ignited around her...
'It Will Do Well...'
In Oprah's early days, back in 1986, when she was just starting her new show, a CBS reporter interviewed her. He asked her how she thought her new show would do?
Oprah confidently said, "It will do well."
After hearing this, he probed deeper by following her answer with yet another question...
"And if it doesn't?"
Her Reply Was Pure Power!
Without missing a beat, Oprah retorted,
"And if it doesn't... I will still do well, because I am not defined by my show. We are defined by the way we treat ourselves and the way we treat other people."
You Are More Than This...
I don't have to point out that we are facing challenging times right now... You know it, I know it, we all know it... It's painfully obvious.
But, like Oprah, no matter what happens in your Life that isn't what will really define you...
Nope.
As Oprah says...
It's how you choose to treat yourself...
It's how you choose to treat others beyond the circumstances...
And THAT's a CHOICE you make every minute of every day! Through all of this...
Though all of your successes, failures, careers, life changes, mornings and evenings...
You get to choose...
And that my friend is not only what you'll take with you on your last breath...
It's the only real legacy you will leave behind...
