Spinning Plates

Sunny day today. I’m feeling more myself. Trying to get back into my regular routine after almost two weeks of being sick.

I typically keep a lot of plates spinning. My guess is you do too. Life’s going to be busy, that’s just the nature of things. However, there’s different kinds of busy.

Good, structured, productive (plates spinning) or, chaotic, crazy, stressful and exhausting (plates breaking).

Somehow my life has been bordering more on the latter type of crazy the past few years.

Being sick really served as an opportunity to take a better look at streamlining and downsizing again.

I simply have too many irons in the fire… Too many complexities that need too much of my attention to keep running. Too much risk. Too many of a lot of things that are eroding not only my sanity and enjoyment of Life...

But also my ability to make the impact I am wanting to make.

I often ask myself is the ‘Juice worth the squeeze.’

..and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s time for some change…

Some simplifying…

It’s a time for more impact and less busy…

I’m not sure what that will look like exactly yet, but I have some good ideas!

Don’t worry, you’re one of those people who I’ll keep ‘In the know'.

Kinda like training…

Getting the biggest bang for your buck isn’t always what you think it is.

Sometimes you begin on a good trajectory, but you accumulate things. You drift. Things change. Circumstances change. YOU change.

It’s easy to be drawn to the shiny objects. The flashy. The popular. The (seemingly) easy.

But remember…

All the Glitters Is Not Gold…

If you want to live a better life, you have to train yourself in a very particular way. A way where you cultivate clarity, resilience, sustainability, balance… Joy.

And make no mistake, those are a very specialized set of skills.

Like a garden, our lives need to be tended to. In order for things to remain a healthy environment to grow, we have to maintain a certain protocol.

Including: Fertile soil, the proper amount of sun and water. We also have to plant good seeds. We have to pull out the weeds and keep things out of the garden that would damage what we’re trying to grow.

Building a practice for your Life is no different. The idea isn’t to merely learn how to survive. Although That’s a good start, there’s so much more to it than that.

How you train should support your overall goals to living a healthy, joyful and Good Life.

Sometime we get distracted by other pursuits or shiny objects. You and I both know that it’s easy to get off track.

We also have to stay sensitive to our changing seasons. Because, if you don’t change with them, you’ll find yourself walking down a road that isn’t leading you to the destination you were intending.

It’s Not Always a Straight Path

When it comes to learning how to protect yourself. Here’s the basic Success Path:

  • Learn how to be a Tough Target.

  • Learn to be a Survivor.

  • Learn to Defend.

  • Learn to Protect.

  • Learn how to Live in Peace.

Now, this doesn’t happen in a totally linear process, however it does seem to have a natural rhythm to it… One that isn’t often taught… One that is rather counter intuitive for most folks.

Make no mistake though…

This is a path that can change your Life, maybe even save it in ways that you might not have even considered.

I’ve personally seen this transformation happen to hundreds of people over the years. It’s miraculous to witness & be a part of.

There’s a Guidepost Ahead…
