Fighting the Hard Battles

Humbled…

I am always in awe of the people who train at the academy. They come from all walks of life. Each brings their own unique baggage. Some crushingly heavy. Others much lighter. All are important to us, the porters of that luggage.

I am continually humbled by the every day people who come through the doors to expose their throats to their own demons in effort to overcome them. Yes, it’s more transparent in some than others, but make no mistake, we all have them. It can be an outright battle confronting them and letting go.

I know, it’s not easy.

I, like you have my own that I have fought. It’s an on going, never ending process. However, if you learn to keep feeding the right wolf inside of you, the one of courage, resilience, love, persistence, and faith, the battle lessens.

If you keep going you begin to realize that the demon guarding the gate to where you want to go, is of your own creation. You created it to deal with some pain, it seemed to help, but later, it no longer served you.

However…

Old habits die hard, many almost have a life all their own. Some whisper in our ears like a true friend sweet & nice… But they’re full of deceit.

Others glare and roar trying to intimidate you and make you cower in fear of them.

Both are trying to convince you to not discard them. They fear being thrown away and abandoned by you.

Don’t fight them that way. Honor how far they have brought you. Honor how they served their purpose…Then let them go when it’s time to move on.

They no longer serve their purpose. They no longer serve you.

What got you here, isn’t the same thing that is going to get you where you want to go.

That’s the battle.

And it’s a difficult one, so…

“Be kind because everyone you know is fighting a hard battle.”

~Plato

Confidence v. Courage

These two terms are often confused or worse yet interchanged. They may be similar and sometimes even overlap, but, make no mistake, they’re not the same.

Confidence comes from experience. Courage comes from faith.

You’ll need both to Keep Going!

Surround yourself with people who are on that path as well. People who will kick you in the butt when needed, yet help brush you off to stand taller and stronger. People who share in the suck and have your back.

I don’t know the path that brought you here, but it’s my privilege to walk beside you to where it leads.

And...

If our paths lay in different directions, I hope that they cross from time to time to celebrate in our victories, honor those who have fallen and enjoy a moment or two of what this Life.

Either way…

Keep going!
