Yesterday I had a great day working with CU Answers. We spent the afternoon working on the ins & outs of how to manage conflict more effectively, how to be a better leader and how to work as a team more effectively.

They were a good crew, we had a productive couple hours and had some fun too! (hey, that rhymes! =) I appreciate them brining me out to work with their team.

Navigating Work & Life

I know you already know that sometimes it can be overwhelming juggling work Life & home Life. They’re not unrelated.

Like we talked about yesterday…

“We have more similarities than differences. One of the things we all have in common is that we have to deal with people… Starting with ourselves…”

There simply is no real personal defense (of any kind… Including conflict communications.) without Personal Development. Period.

You have to cultivate yourself in the right way in order to better deal with the conflicts that you run up against…

A Lot of Times…

Often, people come to these conflict communication classes believing that they’re going to learn the word or phrase to get others to do their bidding…

Aaaahhh… It doesn’t work exactly like that.

It’s really more about controlling yourself more than the other person.

Of course you can learn how to talk more persuasively, but that’s just the tip of the ice burg.

You really have to learn the formula. Once you have the right framework, you begin to see the answers more clearly.

Start Here

Today…

  • Relax & breathe

  • Stand Tall

  • Treat people with dignity and respect.

  • Listen

  • Have an objective

  • Draw reasonable boundaries

  • Clearly communicate

  • Give choices

  • Give chances

  • Don’t worry about controlling others, rather have a plan ‘B’ and know what you’re going to do if things zig when you wanted them to zag.

Simple Not Easy

Learning how to do this and live a Protector’s Life, what I call a PeaceWalker is simple, but not easy. Most people need some help.
